A couple, with homes outside of DC, needs to hire an experienced Chef. The chef is responsible for designing balanced, seasonal, and creative daily menus tailored to the household’s specific tastes, allergies, and dietary restrictions, as well as sourcing high-quality ingredients and household supplies from local markets, specialty vendors, and grocery suppliers. Daily duties include cooking and serving fresh lunches, dinners, snacks, and desserts, procuring breakfast supplies, and prepping lunches and dinners so caretakers can cook on the chef’s days off. Beyond meal preparation, the role involves maintaining an impeccably clean, organized, and stocked kitchen and pantry, tracking inventory, safely managing food storage, labeling and dating leftovers, and executing menu service for private dinner parties, family gatherings, and formal events. Candidates should ideally possess formal culinary training, extensive professional kitchen experience, a valid food safety certification, and strong knowledge of specialized diets such as gluten-free, vegan, or kosher, while coordinating with caretakers on medical nutrition requirements. Additionally, the role requires high standards of discretion, reliability, diplomatic communication in a private home environment, excellent organization to balance daily cooking and shopping schedules, and a genuine love for dogs. Schedule is typically Friday – Tuesday from 10:30am until 7:30pm. Salary range: $120- $140 annually Immediate start.
